Exchange prices for the nearest wheat and corn contracts are falling

Last Friday, December 1, wheat quotes on leading exchanges continued to decline, remaining under pressure from heavier global fundamentals.

The December wheat future on CBOT in Chicago dropped by $1.7 and traded at $196.9/tonne. In Paris on EURONEXT, the corresponding grain future lost $0.6 in price, falling to $220.3/tonne.

According to information Barva Invest, activity in the Ukrainian wheat market remains weak both due to constrained supply and due to the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy, port, and railway infrastructure.

Corn quotes also showed a decline at the end of last week, having exhausted the potential support from good dynamics in American exports. The March grain future on CBOT increased by $1 – to $175.1/tonne. On EURONEXT, the cost of the March grain contract decreased by $0.3, stopping at $217.4/tonne.

Prices for Ukrainian corn continued to weaken amid a decrease in spot supply shortages and complication of port operations following Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
