Starting in 2026, updated regulations for grape growers and winemakers will come into force in Ukraine. These changes aim to harmonize the industry with European standards and simplify business operations. The new law and accompanying regulations are currently being prepared by relevant authorities, according to ProAgro Group.

The new rules will cover vineyard registration, plantation accounting, traceability of grape origin, and winemaking products. Improvements are also planned for the system of geographical indications and wine quality control, which should enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian products both domestically and internationally.

For small and craft producers, simplified reporting and licensing procedures will be introduced to reduce administrative burdens and stimulate the growth of local winemaking. Special attention will be given to digitalization of the sector, including the creation of electronic registers of vineyards and producers.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy notes that the implementation of these new rules will contribute to market legalization, attract investments, and ensure sustainable development of Ukraine’s viticulture and winemaking sector.

Earlier reports indicated that the state budget for 2026 includes funds for grants to establish or expand orchards, berry farming, and viticulture.
