This year’s corn and sunflower harvesting campaign in Sumy region, as in many other regions, is complicated by excessive rainfall.
According to Ihor Hurzhii, Head of the Agro-Expertise Department at Credit Agricole Bank, corn moisture content in many fields exceeds 35%, writes Elevatorist.com.
Meanwhile, farms without their own drying facilities are forced to temporarily suspend operations. There are two reasons:
- queues at elevators;
- waiting for frosts down to -5 °С, which can naturally cool the grain and reduce drying costs.
Ihor Hurzhii also emphasized that farmers with their own cleaning and drying systems are actively investing in increasing the energy efficiency of their facilities.
