Ukraine redirected main sugar export from the EU to Middle East countries

In the first three months of the 2025/26 MY, Ukraine exported 116.1 thousand tons of sugar, 95% of which was shipped outside the EU market, according to the “Ukrsugar” association.

The main buyers of Ukrainian sugar in September-November 2025 were the countries of the Middle East and the Western Balkans:

  • Lebanon — 37% of the exported volume;
  • Syria — 18%;
  • North Macedonia — 8%;
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina — 7%;
  • UAE — 7%.
