Sea freight rates remain mostly stable

The Black Sea freight market enters the second half of November with stable rates.

According to ASAP Agri analyst and Atria Brokers freight broker Pavlo Lysenko, the flow of grain cargo from Ukraine has slowed down, but overall, the balance between cargo volume and tonnage supply in the region remains balanced, allowing shipowners to maintain rates at previously achieved levels.

It is worth noting that the number of coasters with a deadweight of 7–12 thousand tons opening up for the second half of November is increasing, which weakens the position of the owners of such fleet during tough negotiations.

In the Handysize segment, freight for a 30 thousand tons cargo of corn to the eastern coast of Italy remains unchanged at 24–25 $/ton.

In the Coaster segment, freight for a 6 thousand tons cargo of corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to the eastern coast of Italy amounts to 36–38 S/ton.
