Ukraine – in the TOP-3 global rapeseed exporters
Ukraine confidently maintains its position among world leaders in rapeseed export, securing almost one-fifth of the global trade in this oilseed.
According to information from UCAB, in 2024, Ukrainian rapeseed export amounted to $1.85 billion, representing 18.4% of the global export of this crop and 7.5% of Ukraine’s total agricultural export.
The leading global rapeseed exporters in 2024 were Canada ($4.33 billion), Australia ($3.03 billion), Ukraine ($1.85 billion), and the EU ($283 million).
Main destinations for Ukrainian rapeseed export:
- EU – 89.8%;
- Great Britain – 9.3%;
- Nepal – 0.2%;
- Turkey – 0.2%;
- Algeria – 0.2%.
Historical maximum export revenue: 2024 became a record year for rapeseed export over the past decade. The achieved result surpassed the pre-war results of 2021 ($1.69 billion) and demonstrated rapid recovery after the decline in 2023 ($1.17 billion).
Unlike grains, the rapeseed sales market in 2024 was maximally consolidated geographically: the total number of importing countries decreased from 45 to 37, with 99.1% of all exports going to Europe. This makes the industry dependent on European demand, but simultaneously simplifies logistical chains compared to other sales markets.
