Sowing of winter crops completed in Ivano-Frankivsk region, harvesting of late crops continues

The autumn sowing campaign of winter crops for the 2026 harvest has been completed in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Despite obstacles due to rainy weather, the accumulation of moisture in the soil creates favorable conditions for sprouting and further vegetation, noted Svitlana Onyshchuk, the Head of the Regional Military Administration (RMA).

In total, 59.6 thousand hectares of winter crops have been sown, including 49 thousand hectares of wheat, 9 thousand hectares of barley, 1.6 thousand hectares of rye, and about 21 thousand hectares of winter rapeseed. The RMA notes that the agro-meteorological conditions were optimal and the crops are in good condition.

Concurrently, the region is completing the harvesting of late crops. As of early November, 113.4 thousand hectares of cereals and pulses have been threshed (80% of areas), yielding 620 thousand tons with an average yield of 54.6 centners per hectare (c/ha). Specifically:

  • maize (corn) — 27.8 thousand hectares, 165.6 thousand tons, 59.6 c/ha;
  • buckwheat — 0.7 thousand hectares, 0.92 thousand tons, 13.1 c/ha;
  • sunflower — 14.1 thousand hectares, 36.5 thousand tons, 25.9 c/ha;
  • soy — 47.2 thousand hectares, 123.1 thousand tons, 26.1 c/ha.

Sugar beets have been harvested from 300 hectares (40% of areas), with an average yield of 520 c/ha.
