FAO completed one of the key initiatives for 2025 – the distribution of 615 modular grain storage facilities for farmers in frontline regions
At a time when part of the elevator capacity has been destroyed by the war, the ability to safely store the harvest has become critically important for planning the new season.
Thanks to the support of the governments of Canada and Japan in Ukraine, farmers in 7 regions received modern modular storage facilities, each with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes. They are quick to assemble, do not require complex machinery, and allow post-harvest losses to be avoided even near the front line.
“These storage facilities provide Ukrainian farmers with what is especially necessary today during the war – stability and the ability to look to the future with hope. We will continue to support them on this path,” emphasized Shakhnoza Muminova, Head of the FAO Office in Ukraine.
Since 2022, FAO, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, has already provided Ukrainian agricultural producers with over 37 thousand grain sleeves, 105 sets of equipment, and 859 modular storage facilities, which allowed saving over 8 million tonnes of grain.
