Agrotrade Introduces Peas into Crop Rotation for the First Time and Expands Sowing Structure

In the 2025 season, the Agrotrade Group expanded its crop structure by introducing peas into its production crop rotation for the first time. Nearly 450 hectares in Kharkiv region were allocated for the new crop, following a comprehensive analysis of regional agro-climatic conditions and climate change, ProAgro Group reports.

The company explained that peas were selected as an effective predecessor crop for cereals in the region, as well as an alternative to soybeans, which tend to show unstable yields under high temperature conditions.

“We constantly review our crop structure and select crops that best match the conditions of specific regions. In this case, peas are a well-considered agronomic decision. At the same time, they have certain risks, primarily severe frosts, which can affect plant density and final yields,” said Hennadii Malyi, Chief Agronomist of the Agrotrade Group.

Sunflower was the preceding crop for peas. Thanks to the existing crop protection system, the company was able to effectively control volunteer plants. Sowing was carried out using direct seeding technology, which is gradually becoming standard for Agrotrade’s main crops.

The company emphasized that the introduction of peas is part of a long-term and systematic approach to building a resilient crop rotation adapted to climate challenges, regional agronomic conditions, and improved production efficiency.

As previously reported, Agrotrade’s cluster in Sumy region achieved the company’s highest corn yield this year, exceeding the planned level by more than 20%.
