Lard prices in Ukraine continue to rise, with the upward trend persisting for more than a year. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the average consumer price of lard reached UAH 214.12 per kilogram in November, up 3.5% month on month from UAH 206.81 in October, ProAgro Group reports.
On an annual basis, the increase has been even more pronounced, with prices up 29% compared with November 2024, when lard averaged UAH 165.85 per kilogram. The statistics agency уточнює that the data do not include temporarily occupied territories or regions where active hostilities are ongoing.
Prices have been rising every month since July 2024, when the average price stood at around UAH 160 per kilogram. Over this period, lard has become more than a third more expensive. Experts attribute the trend to several factors, including a reduction in pig livestock due to the war, higher feed and energy costs, and increased demand ahead of the winter holiday season.
Significant regional price disparities were also recorded. In November, the lowest prices were observed in Vinnytsia region at UAH 174.81 per kilogram, while prices in Volyn region exceeded UAH 263 per kilogram. In Kyiv region, the average price reached nearly UAH 290 per kilogram, one of the highest levels nationwide.
Analysts forecast that lard prices could rise by an additional 5–7% in the coming months, as production costs remain elevated and imports are unlikely to have a meaningful impact on the domestic market.
As previously reported, the average consumer price of pork in Ukraine stood at UAH 242.97 per kilogram in November 2025, down 4% month on month from UAH 253.06 in October.
