On January 23, Polish farmers announced a strike and temporary blockade of access roads to the Dołhobyczów–Uhryniv border crossing on the Polish–Ukrainian border. Border and customs authorities have warned carriers about possible disruptions and urged them to plan routes in advance, ProAgro Group reports.
The action is scheduled to take place on the Polish side of the border. The main blockade is expected to last from 11:00 to 15:30 (Polish time), although organizers do not rule out that the protest could extend beyond this timeframe or last throughout the day.
The strike is part of a broader wave of protests by Polish farmers, who oppose competition from imported agricultural products, particularly from Ukraine. Protesters are also dissatisfied with current trade decisions and the EU’s agricultural policy, which they say have led to falling domestic prices and rising production costs.
Specific demands for the January 23 action have not been publicly detailed. However, they are expected to echo farmers’ general calls for stronger protection of the domestic market and additional support for the agricultural sector.
As previously reported, Poland nearly doubled imports of table eggs in the first nine months of 2025 to 25.4 thousand tonnes, up from 13.7 thousand tonnes a year earlier—mostly from Ukraine—in an effort to maintain export volumes and curb domestic prices.
