During the first 20 days of January, Ukraine increased grain exports by rail by 17% compared to December, according to Valerii Tkachov, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Operations. The data were reported by ProAgro Group.
In total, 1.806 million tonnes of grain were transported by rail during the first two decades of the month. This is 18% more than in December 2025, but 15% less year-on-year.
In export traffic, railways shipped 1.6235 million tonnes of grain. This figure is 17% higher than in December, though 12% lower than in January last year. Grain deliveries to ports accounted for 92% of total export volumes, while 8% were shipped via western border crossings.
The average daily loading volume in January stood at 75.3 thousand tonnes, which is 2.4% higher than in December 2025.
As previously reported, total rail transportation of grain cargoes in Ukraine reached 28.9 million tonnes in 2025, down 27.3% (or 10.9 million tonnes) compared to 2024.
