In February, operators of mine action cleared 970 hectares of agricultural land in Ukraine within the state program compensating the cost of demining farmland, ProAgro Group reports.

According to the Ministry of Economy, nine contracts for demining operations were completed during the month. Mine action operators received 65.2 million hryvnias in compensation from the state budget. The average cost of clearing farmland reached 67.2 thousand hryvnias per hectare.

At the same time, work continues under new agreements. In particular, operators have already begun clearing more than 3.3 thousand hectares of farmland under 21 contracts concluded by the Humanitarian Demining Center. The total value of these services is estimated at 220.1 million hryvnias.

Currently, demining operations are ongoing under 37 contracts, covering about 8 thousand hectares of agricultural land. Meanwhile, 82 contracts have already been completed, allowing 14.6 thousand hectares of farmland to be returned to productive use. The total cost of these works amounts to nearly 854.5 million hryvnias.

In February, the government also introduced new rules aimed at accelerating the return of farmland potentially contaminated with explosive remnants of war to safe use. Local authorities will check whether such land is being used and provide this information to the Humanitarian Demining Center and the Mine Action Center.

At the end of the month, the Cabinet of Ministers updated the operational plan for implementing the National Mine Action Strategy until 2033, including clarifying responsibilities of institutions involved in humanitarian demining.

According to official data, since February 2022, about 49,415 square kilometers of territory have been returned to productive use after being affected by explosive hazards. In 2025 alone, 21,683 square kilometers were restored for economic activity.
