Ukraine is expected to sow at least 2 million hectares of soybeans in 2026, with the upward trend in planted areas likely to continue despite ongoing market uncertainties, ProAgro Group reports.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysootskyi stated this during the Soybean Market: Growing. Processing. Trade conference.
He recalled that Ukraine harvested a record soybean crop of over 7 million tons in 2024, while production stood at around 5 million tons in 2025.
“Given the current geopolitical and market volatility, it is difficult to make precise forecasts. However, preliminary estimates suggest that soybean area will be no less than 2 million hectares. Depending on factors such as fuel prices, fertilizer costs, and other challenges, the area could even expand further. At the same time, production is expected to remain at least at the level of 5 million tons,” Vysootskyi noted.
He added that global demand for Ukrainian soybeans and processed products continues to grow. This season, around 60% of the soybean harvest is expected to be processed domestically.
“Demand for these products will remain stable, ensuring consistent export opportunities,” he emphasized.
Earlier, it was reported that climate change has shifted Ukraine’s soybean production belt approximately 220 km northward over the past decade. Regions that were once considered stable production zones are now increasingly exposed to yield risks.
