Ukraine is significantly increasing domestic rapeseed processing and exports of finished products in the 2025/26 marketing year, ProAgro Group reports.
Thanks to the introduction of export duties, processing volumes are estimated at 1.5 million tonnes, which is 2.6 times higher than last year. This will allow rapeseed oil production to increase to 582 thousand tonnes, also 2.6 times higher than the previous season, while exports are expected to grow 2.7 times to 576 thousand tonnes.
Despite last year’s reduction in rapeseed planted area to 1.3 million hectares and a decline in yields to 2.6 t/ha due to unfavorable weather conditions, the agricultural sector is shifting from raw material exports to higher value-added products. Domestic consumption of rapeseed oil remains minimal — only a few thousand tonnes per year, with the rest exported mainly to EU and Asian countries.
Thus, even under conditions of a smaller harvest, Ukraine is strengthening its position in the global market through the development of processing and exports of finished products.
Earlier it was reported that, according to the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Ukrainian farmers lost about $200 million due to the introduction of export duties on soybeans and rapeseed.
