According to the December forecast of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), global grain production in 2025 may exceed the 3 billion tonnes mark for the first time, reports ProAgro Group.
FAO experts expect growth of 4.9% — up to 3.003 billion tonnes, mainly due to high wheat yields in Argentina. Estimates for the production of coarse grains and rice have also been raised, the increase of which will be ensured by Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, and Indonesia.
FAO reports that in the 2025/26 season, global grain consumption will increase by 2.1%, and stocks by 6.5%, reaching a record 925.5 million tonnes. Grain trade, according to forecasts, will increase by 3.3% and reach 500.6 million tonnes.
