The Rozhyshche City Council in the Volyn region has approved the development of a detailed territorial plan (DTP) for the construction of a pig farm designed for 10,000 head near the village of Sokil. The complex is planned to be located on a land plot of more than 15 hectares leased by Chebeni Plus LLC, ProAgro Group reports.
The approval of the DTP is the first official step toward implementing a project that could become one of the largest investments in the region’s livestock sector and create new jobs, according to local media.
According to the State Statistics Service, as of September 1, 2025, the pig population in Ukraine amounted to about 4.82 million head, showing slight annual growth. Volyn region currently maintains approximately 250,000 pigs, most of which are concentrated in household farms.
Compared to previous years, the number of pigs in Volyn has decreased slightly, so the construction of a 10,000-head pig complex could significantly strengthen the region’s industrial pig farming sector. The project has the potential to create additional jobs, increase tax revenues, and support local economic development.
Earlier reports indicated that in the second half of November 2025, purchase prices for slaughter pigs continued to decline due to low market activity.
