Over the first nine months of 2025, Poland nearly doubled its imports of table eggs to 25.4 thousand tonnes, compared with 13.7 thousand tonnes a year earlier, ProAgro Group reports.
According to an analytical report by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR), exports of eggs for various purposes over the same period remained almost unchanged year on year at 179.8 thousand tonnes.
Ukraine remains the largest supplier of eggs to the Polish market: imports increased from 5.6 thousand tonnes in 2024 to around 10 thousand tonnes in 2025. Supplies from Latvia and Bulgaria also rose, while imports from Germany fell sharply. Turkey emerged as a new player, delivering about 1.2 thousand tonnes of eggs over nine months.
Paweł Podstawka, President of the National Federation of Poultry Breeders and Egg Producers, said the rise in imports is driven by efforts to retain foreign markets and restrain domestic prices.
“Poland still has a surplus of egg production, but there is a shortage of sufficiently cheap eggs for processing, which are then exported,” he noted.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s table egg market has recently shown balanced and positive dynamics, with no negative forecasts for 2026 apart from possible force majeure factors.
