The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecasts that Ukraine’s apple harvest in the 2025/26 marketing year will total 1.173 million tonnes, according to the latest USDA report cited by ProAgro Group.
The projected output is in line with the previous two seasons — 2023/24 and 2024/25 — indicating relative stability in domestic apple production. This trend is attributed to stable orchard areas as well as producers’ gradual adaptation to weather-related risks and wartime challenges.
At the same time, USDA analysts expect a slight decline in domestic apple consumption in Ukraine. In the 2025/26 marketing year, consumption is projected at 1.158 million tonnes, down by 12,000 tonnes, or 1%, compared with the previous season. The decrease may be linked to changes in consumer preferences and increased competition from other fruits.
On a global scale, world apple production in the new season is estimated at 81.72 million tonnes, which is 4.58 million tonnes lower year on year. Global apple consumption is also expected to decline to 81.55 million tonnes, while international trade volumes are forecast to fall to 6.07 million tonnes.
As previously reported, in its December outlook USDA projected Ukraine’s sugar production in the current season at 1.49 million tonnes, which is 310,000 tonnes lower than in the 2024/25 marketing year.
