russia continues to launch daily missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian ports in an attempt to disrupt logistics, hinder exports, and undermine global food security. Since the beginning of 2025, 90 combined attacks on port infrastructure have been recorded — twice as many as in the same period last year, according to ProAgro Group.
In Ukraine’s Odesa region alone, nearly 800 air raid alerts have been issued this year, with their total duration exceeding 30 days. Despite the constant threat, hundreds of port workers, energy specialists, and logistics personnel continue to ensure the uninterrupted operation of ports and cargo handling.
Under these conditions, the availability of shelters directly on port premises is critical, as they allow workers to quickly move to safe locations during attacks. “More than 50 mobile shelters have already been installed, and the number of permanent shelters exceeds 30,” the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine reported.
Private companies are also actively involved, having built dozens of their own protective facilities, which is one of the mandatory requirements for cooperation. At the same time, the government, together with the military, continues to strengthen the protection of port facilities, without disclosing details for security reasons.
Despite ongoing attacks and daily combined strikes, Ukrainian ports remain operational and maritime logistics continue to function steadily.
Earlier reports noted that in late December global prices for grain and oilseeds rose amid new attacks on infrastructure in Ukraine and Russia in the Black Sea region, heightening concerns over the stability of global exports.
