Most types of rolling stock operated by Ukrzaliznytsia will become more expensive in January 2026. However, the cost of using grain hopper cars will remain unchanged at UAH 1,250 per day excluding VAT, the same level as in December, according to ProAgro Group.
Compared with December, the daily rate for gondola cars will increase from UAH 1,350 to UAH 1,450 excluding VAT. The cost of tank cars for transporting food products will rise to UAH 938 per day from UAH 738, while mineral wagons will increase to UAH 450 per day from UAH 203.
Rates for flatcars will also go up. The price for 40-foot flatcars will increase from UAH 750 to UAH 900 per day, 60-foot flatcars from UAH 850 to UAH 900, and 80-foot flatcars from UAH 1,250 to UAH 1,450, all excluding VAT.
Meanwhile, rates for grain hopper cars (UAH 1,250 per day) and piggyback platforms (UAH 203) will remain unchanged. In contrast, timber flatcars will become UAH 200 cheaper, with the daily rate set at UAH 1,360 excluding VAT.
Earlier reports noted that logistical pressure on Ukraine’s grain market began to ease in early December, following a surge in rail transportation costs to record levels.
