Ukrainian private companies exported more than 11.2 million cubic meters of domestically produced gaseous biomethane in 2025, ProAgro Group reports.
Biomethane exports from Ukraine began in February 2025, when Vitagro shipped 67.5 thousand cubic meters of its own biomethane through the gas transmission system to Slovakia. Prior to this, Ukraine had not exported biomethane.
In total, three Ukrainian companies exported gaseous biomethane in 2025. The largest exporter was MHP, which accounted for about 8.7 million cubic meters, or 77% of total exports. The Vitagro Group ranked second with approximately 2.5 million cubic meters. In addition, Hals Agro completed a single export shipment of domestically produced biomethane amounting to more than 75 thousand cubic meters.
Moreover, two Ukrainian companies exported liquefied biomethane (bio-LNG) in 2025. MHP supplied more than 5 thousand tonnes, while UM Liquid Gas exported nearly 900 tonnes. Liquefied biomethane was delivered to European markets by road tankers.
Earlier reports indicated that four to five new biomethane plants with a combined annual capacity of around 20 million cubic meters may begin operations in Ukraine in the near future.
