Ukraine has regained access to the Moldovan market for exports of frozen and chilled poultry meat. So far, only one Ukrainian producer has been approved, which is also authorized to export to the European Union, according to ProAgro Group.

The decision is the result of cooperation between Ukraine’s State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and Moldova’s National Food Safety Agency (ANSA). The reopening confirms that the approved Ukrainian company meets veterinary and food safety standards.

Officials emphasized that this is only the first step in reopening the market. Work is ongoing to expand access for other Ukrainian poultry producers, with negotiations continuing between the Ukrainian and Moldovan sides.

Previously, imports of Ukrainian poultry to Moldova had been restricted due to veterinary and sanitary concerns, including risks related to the spread of poultry diseases and the need to verify Ukraine’s state control system.

During this period, Ukraine implemented a range of measures to restore market access. These included strengthening food safety controls, ensuring compliance with international standards, and conducting consultations and data exchange with Moldovan regulators.

Further expansion of access will depend on inspections and the approval of veterinary certificates between the two countries.

Earlier, Ukraine stated its readiness to provide additional guarantees to Moldova regarding the quality and safety of its poultry products in order to lift export restrictions.
