Agrotrade Completes Winter Wheat Sowing

The AGROTRADE group of companies successfully completed the winter wheat sowing campaign. Despite the moisture deficit in September and excessive soil wetting in October, all planned areas were sown on time.

For sowing, modern machinery was used: Horsch Focus units with strip-till technology and Pottinger Terrasem, which allow simultaneous soil processing and seed sowing.

“This year we applied several new technological solutions. Specifically, we sowed wheat immediately after harvesting soybeans — without additional tillage. And in some areas, we used wide row spacing to sow soybeans between them in the spring. This is currently an experiment, but global experience proves its effectiveness, so we decided to test it under our own conditions,” said Hennadiy Malyi, the group’s chief agronomist.

This season, the company allocated nearly 11.6 thousand hectares for winter wheat in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. This is 20% less than last year — as part of revising the crop rotation and focusing on more profitable crops.
