The average price of a cup of espresso in Ukraine rose to UAH 41 in December 2025, marking a 17% increase year on year, according to ProAgro Group.
The highest prices were recorded in Lviv region, where a cup of espresso costs UAH 47, while the lowest average price was observed in Khmelnytskyi region at UAH 33.
Data from OpenDataBot show that coffee prices have increased significantly across the country. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the average price of espresso in Ukraine has nearly doubled.
Regional price comparisons highlight notable differences. Lviv region topped the ranking for the first time, with prices up 19% year on year. Odesa region ranked second at UAH 45, despite leading the index for the previous two years. Khmelnytskyi region remained the most affordable market for espresso, although prices there still rose by 18% over the year. In Zaporizhzhia and Kirovohrad regions, the average price stood at UAH 35 per cup. Sumy region recorded the fastest growth, with prices rising by 26%, although the average price remains below the national level.
Rising coffee prices reflect broader inflationary pressures and increasing business costs, while regional differences point to varying income levels and purchasing power. Despite the increase, a cup of coffee remains relatively affordable for most consumers, continuing to serve as a simple indicator of economic conditions.
The Espresso Index measures the average price of a cup of coffee and is commonly used as an indicator of purchasing power and living standards.
Earlier reports noted that researchers at the National University of Singapore had developed a technology to use carob pods as an alternative to cocoa amid growing climate risks to global chocolate production.
