EU farmers call on Ukraine to cancel export duties on soybeans and rapeseed

European farmers’ organizations have appealed to the European Commission to push for the cancellation of the 10% export duty on soybeans and rapeseed introduced in Ukraine, reports ProAgro Group.

The appeal was submitted by the Spanish agricultural association ASAJA and the European farmers’ organization Copa-Cogeca.

According to them, the introduction of export duties on Ukrainian oilseeds could lead to a redistribution of raw material flows, change the balance of the oilseed market, and affect the EU processing sector.

Farmers’ organizations believe the current restrictions are intended to stimulate domestic processing in Ukraine and reduce exports of oilseeds to the European market.

In this regard, they urge the European Commission to hold consultations with Ukraine and seek the removal of the export duty.

Earlier it was reported that demand for soybeans in Ukraine from domestic processors remains stable. Part of the oilseed crop is sold within the country, as deliveries to processing plants are not subject to the 10% export duty, making this sales channel more attractive for traders.
