November 16 marked the Day of Agricultural Workers in Ukraine. This is a professional holiday for people who ensure the food security of the state and the world. About 200,000 representatives of the agricultural sector are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defending our land and future.
On the eve of the professional holiday, Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, held a working meeting with the structural units of the ministry responsible for the agricultural sector. The meeting participants discussed the interim results of the agro-sector’s work in 2025 and issues of state support for commodity producers.
«2025 was an extremely difficult year for the agricultural sector – the war, constant shelling, mine contamination of fields, and unstable climatic conditions created unprecedented challenges for producers. Despite this, farmers not only maintained production but also ensured significant results for the country. The sector continues to be one of the key drivers of the economy: it accounts for about 17% of GDP, generates almost half of foreign exchange earnings, and consistently ensures the presence of Ukrainian products on world markets. This testifies to the extraordinary resilience and professionalism of our producers», – noted Oleksiy Sobolev.
