Frontline Farmers to Receive $1,500 Grants for Spring Sowing

Starting January 15, applications have opened in the State Agrarian Register (DAR) for vouchers worth $1,500 (in hryvnia equivalent) to purchase high-quality seeds and mineral fertilizers for the spring sowing campaign, ProAgro Group reports.

The program is implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with financial support from the Government of Norway. It is part of a newly launched $4 million FAO–Norway project aimed at supporting rural communities in frontline areas of Ukraine.

Farmers from Dnipropetrovsk and Chernihiv regions are eligible to apply if they:

  • cultivate between 10 and 150 hectares of agricultural land;
  • have been adversely affected by the full-scale war.

Applications can be submitted via the DAR until January 31, 2026. Priority will be given to small farms headed by women.

After review, selected applicants will receive notifications through the State Agrarian Register with detailed instructions on how to obtain and use the vouchers. Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance, as selection will be based on program criteria and available funding.

“Supporting small and medium-sized farmers in frontline regions is one of the key priorities of state agricultural policy. This program will help producers prepare in time for spring sowing, maintain production and incomes, and strengthen national food security amid the war,” said Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The initiative combines agricultural support with early recovery measures, helping rural households and small farmers overcome the consequences of the war, safely return to farming activities, and ensure stable food production.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy and FAO, with funding from Norway, launched a $4 million program to support rural communities in frontline regions.
