russia damaged 20 merchant vessels and destroyed nearly 50 port facilities in three months

Over the past three months, russia has significantly intensified attacks on Ukraine’s maritime logistics, damaging at least 20 merchant vessels and destroying or severely damaging nearly 50 port infrastructure facilities. This was reported by Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Andrii Kashuba, according ProAgro Group.

According to the official, these are systematic strikes against civilian facilities that have no military purpose but are critical for exports and global food security.

“russia is deliberately targeting merchant vessels and port infrastructure. In just three months, we have recorded around 20 damaged ships and nearly 50 destroyed or hit port facilities,” Kashuba said.

He emphasized that such attacks complicate the operation of maritime corridors, increase insurance costs, and create additional risks for shipowners and charterers.

“Each strike means not only direct damage, but also pressure on logistics, higher transportation costs, and risks of disrupted export contracts,” the deputy minister explained.

At the same time, Ukraine continues to ensure the functioning of maritime exports by adapting routes and strengthening coordination with international partners.

“Despite constant attacks, ports continue to operate. We are restoring damaged facilities on a daily basis and doing everything possible to keep maritime logistics operational,” Kashuba stressed.

The Ministry notes that strikes on ports and vessels are part of a broader strategy by russia aimed at undermining Ukraine’s export potential and destabilizing global agricultural markets.

Earlier it was reported that in 2025 alone, 90 combined russian attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure were recorded — twice as many as in the previous year.
