russia Strikes Bunge Plant in Dnipro, Spilling 300 Tonnes of Oil

On January 5, 2026, a russian drone struck an oilseed crushing plant operated by Bunge in the city of Dnipro, causing damage to the facility, ProAgro Group reports.

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov said the plant belongs to the U.S.-based company Bunge, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. As a result of the strike, around 300 tonnes of vegetable oil spilled onto the roadway. Municipal services are currently working to clean up the area.

According to city authorities, traffic along the Dnipro embankment will be closed for the next two to three days. Emergency services, law enforcement, and company representatives are operating on site to assess the damage and eliminate the consequences of the attack. No injuries among plant employees have been reported so far.

In an official statement, Bunge said it is assessing the damage and emphasized that the safety of its employees and the local community remains its top priority. The company noted that such attacks pose additional risks to logistics and the uninterrupted operation of agricultural infrastructure, but stressed that all possible measures are being taken to minimize losses and restore operations as quickly as possible.

As reported earlier, on December 20, 2025, a russian attack on the port of Pivdennyi damaged a vegetable oil transshipment terminal operated by Allseeds. The strike caused large-scale fires, killed one employee, injured two others, and led to the loss of thousands of tonnes of sunflower oil.
