Activity in Ukraine’s domestic soybean market is gradually increasing, while export sales remain constrained due to strong competition from Brazil and the United States. This was reported by the analytical department of the agricultural cooperative PUSK, established within the Ukrainian Agrarian Council, according to ProAgro Group.
According to analysts, Ukraine’s soybean exports currently amount to around 117,000 tonnes, with the market overall showing restrained dynamics. At the same time, the domestic segment is becoming more attractive for producers.
“The domestic soybean market is gradually becoming more appealing. Processing plants are increasing coverage for February–March, while prices are being adjusted in line with the exchange rate. As of January 20, indicative procurement prices range between UAH 18,600–19,000 per tonne for GMO soybeans and from UAH 19,500 per tonne for non-GMO soybeans. Port quotations remain largely unchanged,” PUSK analysts noted.
3The situation is also heavily influenced by global market conditions.
“After a sharp rise in autumn, exchange prices entered a correction phase, but this correction could form the basis for a new upward price wave. At the same time, in key markets for Ukraine—particularly Turkey and Egypt—Brazilian soybeans for March–April currently look more competitive, which keeps demand for Ukrainian products subdued. A potential rebound in futures prices could become the main factor supporting the market,” the cooperative’s analysts believe.
Under the current conditions, experts advise farmers to take a measured approach and avoid rushing sales.
“There remains upside potential for soybean prices. Therefore, in the coming months, soybeans should be viewed as an instrument for a more flexible pricing strategy,” PUSK concluded.
Earlier it was reported that in the 2025/26 marketing year, soybean exports are expected to decline by about 37% compared with the previous season. A key trend is the shift away from raw bean exports toward supplies of processed products, namely soybean oil and soybean meal.
