Tony Blair Institute joins the renewal of Ukraine’s rural development strategy

The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture is working on updating the Strategy for Rural Development until 2030, which is intended to become a fundamental document for the transformation of the agricultural sector and community development.

Recently, a meeting took place between representatives of the Ministry and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) to enhance cooperation in strategic planning and reforming the agricultural sector.

“The Strategy will cover not only agricultural production but also the development of infrastructure, processing, employment, energy resilience, and innovation. Cooperation with the Tony Blair Institute will allow us to strengthen the analytical base, attract international expertise, and turn the document into a real instrument for transforming the agricultural sector,” noted Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksii Sobolev.

Key agreements of the meeting:

  • creation of a joint working group between the Ministry of Economy (Мінекономіки) and TBI to finalize the Strategy;
  • gathering information in the regions and holding consultations with communities and farmers;
  • preparation of analytical materials and recommendations;
  • coordination with international partners to attract support.

Experts from the Tony Blair Institute will participate in field trips, meetings with communities, and analysis of the needs of local producers. This is intended to ensure the practicality and realism of the future strategy.

Cooperation with TBI opens up new opportunities for modernizing agrarian policy, strengthens the strategic planning of the Ministry of Economy, and will contribute to the formation of a modern, innovative, and sustainable development model for Ukrainian rural territories.
