As of January 1, 2026, sugar plants belonging to the Ukrtsukor association processed 10.43 million tonnes of sugar beets and produced 1.574 million tonnes of sugar, ProAgro Group reports.
According to the association, the average sugar yield reached 15.19%, up by 1.13 percentage points year-on-year. Beet sugar content also increased to 17.63% (+0.88 percentage points), which had a positive impact on processing efficiency and overall output.
Ukrtsukor noted that six sugar factories will continue beet processing in January.
“The sugar beet processing campaign is expected to be completed by January 20, 2026,” the association said.
Taking into account the volumes already produced and the remaining raw materials at plants, total sugar production in the current season may approach 1.6–1.65 million tonnes. This level is sufficient to fully meet domestic demand and create export potential, particularly for shipments to the EU and Middle Eastern countries.
At the same time, further price dynamics will depend on export volumes, logistics costs, and global sugar market conditions. With stable demand and limited supply in certain European regions, Ukrainian producers may maintain strong competitive positions in the second half of the marketing year.
As reported earlier, during the first three months of the 2025/26 marketing year Ukraine exported 116.1 thousand tonnes of sugar, with 95% shipped outside the EU, mainly to Middle Eastern markets.
