Grain exports in December remain below 2 million tonnes

As of December 22, Ukraine has exported 14.255 million tonnes of grain and pulses since the start of the 2025/26 marketing year (July–June), ProAgro Group reports. According to the State Customs Service, total exports are 7 million tonnes, or 32.9%, lower than as of December 27 last year.

Wheat exports currently amount to 7.656 million tonnes, which is almost 2 million tonnes, or 20.4%, less than in the same period of the previous season. Barley shipments total 1.223 million tonnes, down 745 thousand tonnes, or 37.9%. Corn exports also lag significantly behind last year, standing at 5.127 million tonnes compared with nearly 9.4 million tonnes a year earlier, a decrease of 45.2%. Rye exports in the current season total only 200 tonnes, versus 10.8 thousand tonnes at the same point last season.

In addition, 32.2 thousand tonnes of flour (including 31.2 thousand tonnes of wheat flour) were exported as of the reporting date, which is 4.8 thousand tonnes less than in the same period of the 2024/25 marketing year.

Since the beginning of December, Ukraine has exported 1.823 million tonnes of grain, including 337 thousand tonnes of wheat, 50 thousand tonnes of barley, and 1.422 million tonnes of corn. Flour exports during the month reached 5.2 thousand tonnes.

As reported earlier, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in its December report cut its forecast for Ukraine’s grain exports in the 2025/26 marketing year by more than 2.5 million tonnes — to 14.5 million tonnes of wheat, 23 million tonnes of corn, and 6.6 million tonnes of other grains.
