Drone attack damages grain vessels in Odesa region, civilians injured

Two civilian commercial vessels carrying grain were damaged in a nighttime drone attack on Ukraine’s Odesa region on March 20, ProAgro Group reports.

According to Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, the vessels — flying the flags of Palau and Barbados — were docked at berths and loaded with grain at the time of the strike. Despite the damage, both ships remain afloat.

The attack also caused damage to administrative buildings and triggered a fire, which was quickly contained by emergency services. Two people were reported injured.

Kuleba described the strike as “another war crime against global food security,” emphasizing the continued targeting of Ukraine’s port and export infrastructure.

Earlier, on February 13, a drone attack on a port facility in the Odesa region killed one person and injured six others. The strike also damaged port infrastructure, fertilizer storage facilities, and railway wagons.
