Agricultural Output in Ukraine Fell by 6.8% in 2025

In 2025, Ukraine’s agricultural sector recorded a significant decline in output, with total agricultural production falling by 6.8% year-on-year, according to the State Statistics Service, ProAgro Group reports.

The sharpest drop was observed in crop production, where the output index stood at 92.5% compared to 2024 levels. Livestock production proved more resilient, declining to 95.9% year-on-year.

By type of producer, agricultural enterprises reported an overall production index of 93.2%, including 92.0% in crop farming. Household farms reduced output to 93.3%, with the steepest decline seen in livestock production at 91.3%. While agricultural enterprises continue to generate the bulk of output and show relatively smaller losses, household production is contracting more rapidly, partly due to demographic changes and rural outmigration.

Regional performance remained highly uneven. Growth was recorded only in Chernihiv region (+4.1%) and Sumy region (+0.5%). At the same time, the largest declines were registered in Donetsk (-44.7%), Kherson (-33.7%) and Zaporizhzhia (-21.6%) regions.

Overall, the agricultural sector ended 2025 with declining production across most segments, highlighting the challenging operating environment for Ukrainian farmers over the past year.

Earlier we reported that as of January 1, 2026, Ukrainian farmers had harvested more than 75.3 million tonnes of cereals, pulses, and oilseeds, as well as dug up over 11 million tonnes of sugar beet.
