Agrotrade to focus on sunflower and corn in 2026 season

Agrotrade Group has announced its crop structure for the 2026 season, developed with consideration of weather conditions, previous season results, crop rotation requirements and economic efficiency, ProAgro Group reports. The key planning criterion was profitability and maximizing return per hectare.

According to the company, the 2026 crop structure will be distributed as follows: sunflower will account for 28.6% of total acreage, corn – 24.9%, winter wheat – 19.3%, winter rapeseed – 13.8%, and soybeans – 7.3%. The structure also includes flax (3.3%), winter barley (1.6%), winter peas (0.7%) and industrial hemp (0.4%).

Compared to the previous season, the company will increase sunflower and corn acreage while reducing soybean plantings. Niche crops such as flax and winter peas will be added to the crop rotation. Priority is given to high-margin crops, particularly sunflower and winter rapeseed.

In 2026, Agrotrade will continue its technological transformation. Key areas include biological approaches and optimization of production processes: reduced soil tillage intensity, near-complete отказ from plowing, transition to direct seeding, fewer machinery passes, and the use of cover crops and organic fertilizers. The company will also expand Strip-Till technology to preserve soil moisture, prevent erosion and efficiently manage crop residues.

The company expects average yields to increase by 0.17–0.79 tonnes per hectare depending on the crop. Updated crop protection and nutrition strategies have been implemented. Under favorable weather conditions, Agrotrade anticipates significantly improved production results.

Earlier, Agrotrade expanded its crop rotation in the 2025 season by introducing peas for the first time, allocating nearly 450 hectares in the Kharkiv region based on agro-climatic analysis and climate change trends.
