Early Grain Sowing Actively Underway in Vinnytsia Region

The sowing campaign is ongoing in the Vinnytsia region. Agricultural enterprises continue preparing soil for spring crops and are actively sowing early grain and legume crops, according to ProAgro Group.

According to the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, as of April 3, farms in the region have sown nearly 30 thousand hectares of these crops, which represents 6% of the planned area. In particular, spring wheat has been sown on 35% of the planned area, spring barley on 39%, oats on 30%, and peas on 48%.

Farmers have also begun sowing sugar beet. So far, it has been planted on more than 1.4 thousand hectares, which is 3.2% of the forecast.

The planned sowing areas for the 2026 harvest are as follows: spring wheat – 10 thousand hectares, spring barley – 55 thousand hectares, oats – 1 thousand hectares, peas – 8 thousand hectares, and sugar beet – 44 thousand hectares.

Winter crops in the region are mostly in good condition.

As reported, alongside the start of the sowing campaign, farmers in the Vinnytsia region were also fertilizing winter crops, which occupy an area of 461 thousand hectares.
