Farmers in Vinnytsia region sow peas and prepare for the main sowing campaign

In the southern districts of the Vinnytsia region, some agricultural enterprises have already started sowing peas. Currently, more than 100 hectares have been planted, which accounts for 1.3% of the planned area. In total, about 8,000 hectares are expected to be allocated for peas this year, which is in line with last year, ProAgro Group reports.

According to the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, farmers are simultaneously preparing for the main sowing campaign: they are cultivating the soil, preserving moisture, and preparing fields for early grain, legume, and industrial crops, taking into account weather conditions.

The first stage of fertilizing winter crops is also actively ongoing. As of the beginning of the current week, 80% of the total area of 461,000 hectares has already been fertilized.

“Winter crops are gradually resuming spring vegetation, and the application of nitrogen fertilizers helps reduce the negative effects of late sowing,” the regional administration noted.

As previously reported, the spring sowing campaign at the fields of the Olhopil agricultural enterprise in the Vinnytsia region started as early as mid-March, when peas sowing began.
