Farmers in Volyn Begin Sowing Sugar Beets

As of early April, farmers in the Volyn region have completed the sowing of spring oats, barley, and wheat on more than 120 thousand hectares. Agricultural machinery is now actively working in the fields, with sugar beet sowing underway, according to ProAgro Group.

According to Yurii Yurchenko, Director of the Regional Department of Agro-Industrial Development in Volyn, the first fertilization of winter grains has already been completed on more than 206 thousand hectares. Some enterprises have also finished sowing sugar beets.

“This year, the total area under sugar beets is 9 thousand hectares, which is at the level of last year. The total sowing area in the region will exceed 585 thousand hectares, also in line with last year,” Yurii Yurchenko noted.

As reported, in 2025 farmers in the Volyn region achieved the highest average sugar beet yield in Ukraine – 770 centners per hectare.
