A farm in Cherkasy region plans to grow vegetables in two rotations
LLC “Volia” from the Cherkasy region plans to work immediately in two rotations next season: early carrots and beets will go first, and after them, they will plant cauliflower, Chinese cabbage, and broccoli.
Vyacheslav Kislitsyn, Deputy Director for Vegetable Growing of the company told the “Plantator” magazine, that in 2026 the enterprise plans to sow 70 ha of bulb onions, 40 ha each of carrots and beets, and 200 ha of potatoes.
“We also plan to plant early carrots and beets – 7 ha of each crop, and in the second rotation after them – cauliflower, Chinese cabbage, and broccoli,” he said.
Kislitsyn noted that currently, farmers are more concerned about the narrowing of the domestic market due to the war than possible overproduction.
“Onions are being widely sown even by those who do not know how to store them, so prices are rapidly falling – farmers are selling everything just to sell. Processing could save the situation: dried and frozen vegetables are in high demand in Europe, but there is still little of such production in Ukraine,” he added.
The company is also looking towards export. They have already carried out trial sowings of dill and parsley for drying on 1 ha, planting 15 varieties of one crop and 12 of the other. Now they are preparing a project for significant areas – up to 300 ha.
