Consolidation, modernization, and export orientation are no longer a strategy for the future, but a condition for the survival of Ukrainian livestock farming.
According to a new study by “UkrAgroConsult”, the industry is rapidly transitioning to the “contract + biosecurity + traceability” model, focusing on the requirements of the EU and Middle Eastern markets.
Funding is directed towards quick projects with a return on investment within 2–3 seasons. Products with clear specifications and certificates have an advantage in export. Simultaneously, grain and oil crops are increasingly being processed domestically into feed, which increases added value and supports the oilseed meal market.
“Whoever sells standard quality lives, whoever delays loses the market,” analysts summarize. Under the medium-term scenario, the winners will be those producers who are first to standardize quality, accelerate turnover, and secure sales for 12–18 months. Key factors are becoming short chains of “farm–processing–export” and biosecurity risk insurance.
