Major Starch Producer to Reduce Potato Planting Areas

The starch producer Central Plains Group (CPG) (Lviv region) has begun its potato planting season, according to ProAgro Group.

“This year, about 1,000 hectares will be allocated for potato planting, reflecting CPG’s stable production rhythm and strategic consistency,” the company said in a Facebook statement.

For comparison, in 2025, the company’s own potato plantations for chips, starch, and seed production covered 1,300 hectares.

CPG is also allocating part of its land bank to other crops, which will occupy 700 hectares this season.

“This approach allows us to effectively manage crop rotation, maintain soil fertility, and strategically plan production processes,” the producer explained.

As reported, Ukraine’s largest industrial potato producer, Continental Farmers Group, plans to plant potatoes on about 2.1 thousand hectares this year.
