MHP Plans to Launch Pilot Insect-Based Protein Plant in Q1 2026

MHP plans to open a pilot industrial plant for the production of alternative insect-based protein by the end of the first quarter of 2026. This was announced by Serhii Melnychuk, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of MHP for Scientific Affairs and Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, during the 6th International Conference on Soil Fertility Restoration, ProAgro Group reports.

“We plan to open our first industrial-scale plant by the end of the first quarter of next year. It will be a pilot facility. Biotechnology is a demanding field, and the only way to make it work is through strong expertise,” Melnychuk said.

The company explains that the world is facing a shortage of protein resources, environmental challenges, and depletion of natural reserves. In particular, a major risk is the decline in fish catch used for the production of fishmeal, a key ingredient in animal feed.

As previously reported, MHP has topped the ranking of Europe’s largest poultry meat producers for the third consecutive year.
