The state institution “Ukrainian Hydromelioration Systems” has received five high-capacity generators that will provide additional backup power for the Kirovohrad regional branch and ensure uninterrupted operation of irrigation systems on more than 1,400 hectares, ProAgro Group reports.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the equipment will allow pumping stations to operate reliably even during power outages, which is critical for maintaining irrigation of agricultural crops.
The generators of American brands Cummins and Generac were provided through the AGRO Program funded by the U.S. Government.
The equipment transfer became the first stage of a large-scale modernization project for water management organizations, implemented with the support of the United States through the AGRO Program.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Iryna Ovcharenko noted that the delivery of generators is part of a broader initiative aimed at modernizing water management infrastructure.
According to her, the government is working to ensure that Ukrainian farmers have stable access to water resources, while water management organizations receive modern technical solutions that enable reliable and efficient operations even during wartime.
Overall, the initiative предусматриває eight deliveries of various U.S.-manufactured equipment to five regions of Ukraine. The new machinery will help improve the efficiency of pumping stations and significantly accelerate pipeline repairs and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure.
Earlier it was reported that UAH 34 million in state support for irrigation was allocated in 2025, enabling irrigation of 2,500 hectares of agricultural land in several regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Odesa, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions.
