Sunflower — The Undisputed Leader of Profitability in 2025

In 2025, sunflower retains its status as the most profitable crop for Ukrainian farmers. According to a study by the All-Ukrainian Congress of Farmers, it demonstrates the highest EBITDA indicator among the main agricultural crops. Given favorable weather conditions and technological support — effective fertilizer application, quality seeds, and modern PPPs (Plant Protection Products) — profitability can reach $985/ha, especially in the western regions.

Wheat is in second place in terms of profitability, followed by corn, soybeans, and rapeseed. However, in terms of yield and costs, sunflower is inferior to corn. Thus, corn yield ranges from 40 to 97 ц/га, while sunflower yield ranges from 22 to 32 ц/га. Costs for growing sunflower are $763–942/ha, and for corn, they are $847–1408/ha.

Soybeans remain the least profitable crop in 2025. In the northern and western regions, its profitability is $86/ha and $155/ha, respectively, while losses are recorded in the central and eastern regions: -$140/ha and -$163/ha.
