Tekom Agro Group launches spring sowing campaign in Odesa region

Tekom Agro Group has begun sowing lentils, marking the start of the 2026 spring sowing campaign. The first farms of the agricultural group to begin fieldwork were Chornomorets LLC and Agrofirma Pivdenna, ProAgro Group reports.

According to Serhii Shtyrbulov, Deputy Head of Production at the agricultural association, the group plans to sow more than 1,000 hectares of red lentils across four farms.

At Chornomorets, the first pass and adjustment of the John Deere seeding complex to the required sowing depth have already been completed.

“The temperature of +15°C allows us to start this year’s spring sowing campaign. There is still sufficient moisture in the soil, so we are starting operations. The field prepared for lentils is well leveled, and the previous crop was winter wheat,” the specialist explained.

The farms are sowing the Canadian lentil variety Maxim at a depth of 3 cm with a seeding rate of 110 kg/ha. During sowing, farmers are also applying Ammophos 11:52 fertilizer.

In the Odesa district, where Chornomorets operates, lentils are being planted for the first time, with about 300 hectares planned for the crop.

Earlier it was reported that Tekom Agro Group is introducing moisture-saving soil cultivation technologies, including verti-till, in response to climate change. The company is also adjusting crop rotations by adding drought-resistant crops such as lentils.
