Ukraine’s Corn Export Pace in December Exceeds Last Year’s Level for the First Time

In December, Ukraine’s corn export pace exceeded last year’s figures for the first time since the start of the season. The country has already exported 824 thousand tonnes of corn, compared with 766 thousand tonnes during the same period last year, ProAgro Group reports.

Europe remained the main destination, accounting for 393.5 thousand tonnes (48%), with a focus on Italy (206.7 thousand tonnes) and Spain (119 thousand tonnes). The Middle East accounted for 310.3 thousand tonnes (38%), largely driven by Turkey (272.4 thousand tonnes). Shipments to Asia and North Africa were limited, at 6% each.

Prices at seaports remained stable despite prevailing bearish sentiment. Ports are well supplied with raw materials and have sufficient capacity reserves; however, weather-related risks and attacks on infrastructure may restrain shipments.

The spot corn index for delivery to ports within 30 days held at $207 per tonne.

Exports through the western border are increasing, with potential volumes of up to 1 million tonnes per month. Prices for January–February deliveries declined to €184–186 per tonne FCA Chop.

Previously, the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) forecast that potential exports of Ukrainian corn in the 2025/26 season could reach 25 million tonnes, provided that logistics remain stable.
