Ukraine to increase corn exports to 23.8 mln tonnes in 2025/26 MY – UCAB forecast

In the 2025/26 marketing year, Ukraine is expected to export 23.8 million tonnes of corn, up 8.3% compared to the previous season, ProAgro Group reports.

According to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), corn production in 2025/26 MY is projected at 29.9 million tonnes – 11.2% higher year-on-year, although still 6.8% below the five-year average.

The increase in output is primarily driven by a 11.6% expansion in planted areas to 4.5 million hectares. However, this figure remains 3.9% below the five-year average. The season was marked by challenging weather conditions, as heavy autumn rains delayed harvesting. Average yield is estimated at 6.6 tonnes per hectare, slightly (0.3%) lower than in the previous marketing year.

In 2024/25 MY, corn exports declined by 25.6% to 22 million tonnes due to lower production and a sharp reduction in carryover stocks – from 6.4 million tonnes to 3.7 million tonnes. The recovery in production in 2025/26 MY is expected to partially offset last season’s decline in exports.

Domestic corn consumption in 2025/26 MY is forecast at 6.2 million tonnes, of which 5.2 million tonnes will be used for feed purposes. Another 182 thousand tonnes are allocated for seed use, and 418 thousand tonnes for industrial processing.

Despite territorial losses and difficult harvesting conditions, Ukraine’s corn market remains resilient. Corn continues to play a key role in the country’s export structure, helping Ukraine maintain its position in strategically important markets such as the EU and the Middle East.

As previously reported, the global corn market currently remains stable, with Ukraine and the United States acting as the two main active suppliers. The U.S. is primarily operating in the forward segment with April–May deliveries, while Ukraine remains a key supplier of spot corn shipments for February–March.
