At the same time, farmers holding higher-quality cabbage refused to lower asking prices below UAH 2–8 per kilogram, which is on average 23% lower than at the end of the previous working week. This situation is causing concern among producers who store their products under proper conditions.
Currently, these farms are holding back sales in anticipation of improved market conditions. However, pressure on the market persists due to an overall increase in cabbage production this season. Many farms expanded planting areas, but unfavorable weather conditions negatively affected the quality of part of the harvest. Such cabbage is unsuitable for long-term storage, forcing farmers to release significant volumes of lower-grade produce onto the market.
Earlier reports indicated that prices for vegetables included in Ukraine’s traditional borscht basket — potatoes, onions, cabbage, beets, and carrots — had halved by mid-November, making staple products more affordable for consumers.
